Core Tenet: Inheriting the Taoist concept of house safety that “a peaceful house leads to peaceful people, and a pure environment leads to a pure mind”, with “expelling evil spirits and purifying the aura” as the core, the ceremony presided over by a Taoist priest adjusts the stagnant aura in the house and dispels bad luck and negative energy. It helps to abandon restlessness and inexplicable irritability, establish the living concept of “respecting the house to stabilize the environment and integrating body and mind”, resolve problems such as insomnia and low mood caused by disordered aura in the house, protect the peace and harmony of the house and the health of family members, and build an aura barrier for life.
Ritual Preparation: Choose an auspicious day conducive to exorcising evil and purifying the house, such as “Chu Ri” (Elimination Day), “Jie Ri” (Resolution Day), and “Po Ri” (Breaking Day), and hold the ceremony at Si Shi (9-11 am) in the morning, a time when yang energy is vigorous and evil spirits are easy to disperse. It is necessary to clean the inside and outside of the house 3 days in advance, remove debris and garbage, and family members should fast and bathe 1 day in advance, eat vegetarian food to purify the mind, and inform the house address, orientation and family members’ names in advance for customizing the house-purifying document. Altar arrangement (set in the center of the living room): Place the tablets of the God of Earth and Door God in the center (symbolizing stable house foundation and prevention of external evil); on the left, display peach wood sword and Eight Trigrams mirror (symbolizing exorcising evil and transforming煞气); on the right, place a clean water bowl and mugwort (implying purifying aura and dispelling bad luck); burn three sticks of sandalwood in front of the altar to create a pure aura. The presiding Taoist priest observes precepts for three days in advance and prepares the house-purifying mantra and house-settling document.

Altar Setup and Worshiping the Sage: The Taoist priest arranges the altar utensils, holds sandalwood and bows three times to the God of Earth and Door God, recites the “God of Earth House-Settling Mantra” and “Door God House-Protecting Mantra”, and prays for the house god to bless the house purification;
Burning Incense to Purify the House: The Taoist priest holds incense and walks around the altar three times, then takes the incense and walks to key areas such as the house gate, kitchen, and bedroom in turn. Every time he arrives at a place, he recites the altar-purifying maxim “incense connects the house, aura purifies all directions, evil stars disperse, and the house is peaceful”;
Wisdom Explanation: The Taoist priest selects the excerpt “Dwell in a good place, and the mind is as deep as an abyss” from “Tao Te Ching”, interprets it in plain language, and explains the house-settling essence of “a peaceful house leads to a peaceful mind”;
Magic Tool Exorcism: The Taoist priest holds a peach wood sword and waves it gently three times towards the gate, reciting the exorcism words “peach wood as a sword, exorcise evil and protect the house; external evil cannot invade, internal environment is peaceful” while waving, then uses the Eight Trigrams mirror to shine on the four corners of the house, symbolizing transforming evil and receiving auspiciousness;
Mugwort Purification: The Taoist priest lights mugwort, holds the mugwort bundle and walks around each area of the house once, purifying the aura with green smoke, and reciting the purification words “green smoke of mugwort rises, bad luck goes with the wind; the aura in the house is pure, and family members are always peaceful” while walking;
Document for House-Settling: The Taoist priest returns to the altar, reads the customized house-settling document, detailing the wishes for exorcising evil, transforming煞气 and protecting family health, and burns the document beside the incense burner after reading;
Sprinkling Water to Settle the House: The Taoist priest takes a clean water bowl, dips mugwort in water, and sprinkles it gently on the four corners and center of the house, reciting the house-settling words “sprinkle water to purify the house, good fortune comes naturally; the house is peaceful and people are peaceful, and auspiciousness is always present”;
Closing the Altar and Thanking the Sage: The Taoist priest holds incense and bows three times to thank the two sacred statues, places the peach wood sword and Eight Trigrams mirror inside the gate for worship, and recites “house purification is completed, the house is peaceful; gods protect the house, family members are healthy”, concluding the ritual successfully.
