Family Harmony Blessing Rite

1. Core Tenet

Inheriting the Taoist ethical concept of “benevolence towards relatives and filial piety, harmony through heart connection”, with “connecting hearts from afar and integrating kindness and filial piety” as the core, the ritual is presided over remotely by a Taoist priest to adjust the aura barrier between parents and children and resolve communication deviations. It helps parents abandon impatience and harshness, helps children get rid of rebellious resistance, establishes the concept of “mutual understanding and concentricity from afar”, strengthens family bonds, and protects the harmonious and long-lasting parent-child relationship.

2. Ritual Preparation

Choose an auspicious day conducive to interpersonal harmony, such as “He Ri” (Harmony Day), “An Ri” (Peace Day), “Man Ri” (Fullness Day), and hold the ritual at Si Shi (9-11 am) in the morning when yang energy is mild and hearts are easy to connect.

– Inform the presiding Taoist priest of the names, birth dates (eight characters of birth) and relationship troubles (brief description) of both parents and children 3 days in advance to customize the exclusive blessing text;

– Taoist priest’s preparation: Place the tablets of Emperor Wenchang and Nuwa Niangniang in the center of the altar; display excerpts from “Book of Filial Piety” and osmanthus branches (symbolizing long-lasting family affection) on the left; place a clean water bowl and lotus seeds (implying concentric connection) on the right; burn three sticks of sandalwood in front of the altar to create a warm aura; observe precepts three days in advance and prepare the reconciliation mantra.

3. Solemn Ritual Process

Presided over remotely by the Taoist priest throughout the process, no on-site participation of parents and children is required——

– Altar Setup and Worshiping Sages: The Taoist priest arranges the altar utensils, holds sandalwood and bows three times to the two sacred statues, recites “Emperor Wenchang Wisdom-Opening Mantra” and “Nuwa Niangniang Kindness Mantra”, prays for the dual blessing of wisdom and kindness, and visualizes the spiritual light penetrating the space to protect both parents and children;

– Burning Incense to Connect Hearts: The Taoist priest holds incense and walks around the altar three times, recites the heart-connecting formula “Incense burns to connect hearts, qi crosses thousands of mountains, parents and children are harmonious, and love is endless”, and visualizes the incense turning into a connecting link to connect the auras of parents and children;

– Wisdom Exposition: The Taoist priest selects the excerpt “Filial piety is the foundation of virtue” from “Book of Filial Piety”, combines the Taoist concept of “kindness nourishes nature and filial piety establishes oneself”, recites and explains the essence of harmonious coexistence, and integrates it into the aura adjustment;

– Lotus Seed Concentric Blessing: The Taoist priest places lotus seeds in front of the altar, arranges them into the character “和” (harmony) one by one, recites the blessing words “Lotus seeds connect hearts, connect from afar, parents are kind and children are filial, family is harmonious and career is prosperous” while arranging, and visualizes the auras of parents and children blending with the mantra;

– Exclusive Blessing: The Taoist priest reads the remote blessing text customized with the birth dates of parents and children, details the wishes for smooth communication, mutual understanding and deep family affection, and visualizes the power of wishes being transmitted to the auras of parents and children while reciting;

– Closing the Altar and Thanking Sages: The Taoist priest holds sandalwood and bows three times to thank the two sacred statues, offers the blessed lotus seeds in front of the altar, recites “The blessing is completed, parents and children are harmonious; the sacred power protects, and the love lasts forever”, and the ritual is completed.
